Do you have a child with type 1 diabetes between the ages of 10 and 17 who’d love a week-long summer basketball camp experience with fellow type 1s in beautiful Vernonia, Oregon?
Former NBA Basketball player Chris Dudley, who founded The Chris Dudley Foundation and was the first person to play in the NBA with type 1 diabetes, has generously gifted DiabeticLifestyle a one-week camper scholarship valued at $1600.
The scholarship includes one-week room and board, meals, medical care, basketball coaching (both one-on-one and in team setting), and a week-long camp experience with other children with type 1 diabetes.
The overnight camp runs from July 30th to August 4, 2017. The winner must be able to use the scholarship during these dates and arrange for his/her own travel.
Campers are cared for by highly trained and experienced staff of counselors, coaches, nurses, endocrinologists, a medical director, dietary specialist and camp director.
Campers gain a sense of how to play a vigorous sport while managing their diabetes and connecting with others who understand the day-to-day challenges of diabetes.
