About Nancy Sayles Kaneshiro

Nancy Sayles Kaneshiro has had a long career in the publishing industry as a book publicist and author. Her quest to bring her type 2 diabetes under control led her to Dr. Scott Cunneen, director of bariatric surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. After her own surgery, she became active in pre-op patient seminars and post-op support groups, sharing the weight loss surgery experience from the viewpoint of the patient. It wasn’t long before she and Dr. Cunneen teamed up to write their first book, WEIGHTY ISSUES: Getting the Skinny on Weight Loss Surgery (www.weightyissuesbook.com). Their second book, tentatively titled 21 Things to Know about Diabetes and Weight Loss Surgery, is scheduled for publication next year by the American Diabetes Association. Nancy is also the co-author of BABY: An Owner’s Manual, written with pediatrician Bud Zukow, MD. And, stepping away briefly from medical issues, Nancy also co-authored Confessions of a Drag Queen Tupperware Lady with Kevin Farrell.
