About Katrina Huckabay

My name is Katrina Huckabay and 6 years ago when my daughter was 2 ½ years old she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I was then a young mom and felt alone but since that time I have grown as a mother. I have now found my passion in life and my mission, my D-Mom Mission, to educate everyone I come in contact with about Type 1 Diabetes. My passion in life is to support families and adults that are on the Type 1 journey with us.

My “day job” is being an in-home childcare provider specializing in the care of children with Type 1 Diabetes and other debilitating conditions. I am also the Executive Director of the Kansas City Type One Diabetes Foundation, an affiliate of the Type One Diabetes Foundation ( Additionally I make time to be a member of the Diabetes Advocates, Luminary for the Blue Heel Society, and a Glu Ambassador.

I am the mother to 2 amazing children Aly (8) and Joel (3) and partner to Justin, my husband of almost 10 years.
