Holiday Magic

Once again, it's the holiday season. Thanksgiving has come and gone, and the full court press towards Christmas, Hannukah and the New Year are upon us. So, the holidays are supposed to be a magical time of year. Taking that into consideration, what magic would you like to manifest in terms of your health during this special season? 

Manifesting Gratitude

In last week's post, I wrote about gratitude, and there is indeed much to be grateful for in terms of how our bodies function, our brains chug along, our hearts continue beating, and we manage to walk upright without falling over (most of the time). 

Maintaining an awareness of how many aspects of your health and wellness are worthy of gratitude is a very excellent practice, even if you sometimes forget. 

The Magic of Family and Friends

Over the course of the holiday season, friends and family can figure largely for many of us. Those social connections---along with the laughter, smiles and general good cheer---can do wonders for your health and well-being, as long as those relationships are mostly healthy and functional. Enjoy the fruits of your relationships, and tap those connections for the good feelings that they can engender. 

If some of your relationships are challenging, you can try to embrace this holiday season as a time of renewal. It's an opportunity to heal old wounds and shake off some of the old emotional shackles. 

The holidays are a golden opportunity to let bygones be bygones, talk it over as needed, and generally make a fresh start in some of your more thorny relationships. 

For those relationships that are healthy and happy, just allow the holidays to bring some more sunshine into an already bright and relatively happy place. 

Planning For The New Year

I'll be blogging more about the new year that's upon us in the weeks to come. For now, see 2015 as a clean slate, as it were, a time to examine your health practices, make some new plans, and potentially commit to ending 2015 with even better health than you have at this point in 2014. 

Is your A1c a little higher than you'd like it to be? Perhaps you can examine ways to get it down to an acceptable level between now and December of 2015. Is your exercise regimen less than stellar? What changes can you make in the new year? Is there a supplement or new food you'd like to introduce into your nutritional mix? It's a good time to decide how you'd like to manifest a reboot of your health as January comes down the line. 

It's Always About Awareness

When it comes down to it, our health is mostly always about awareness. Awareness of our relationships, our exercise, our body image, our nutritional practices, and the ways in which we do or don't manifest our own optimal health. 

Cultivate awareness of what you want in 2015. Make a wish list, not resolutions. Decide on what your new year course of action could look like, and then see how you might bring that reality into being. What magic do you need to pull it off? 

Good luck, and keep yourself healthy as the holiday season ramps up. Stay aware, and keep your eyes on the new year, a year that's full of the promise of renewal...and magic.
